Hammond: We Need to Attract Jobs back to Illinois

MACOMB –Assistant Minority Leader Norine Hammond (R-Macomb) challenged the Democrat Supermajority controlling the Illinois House to heed Governor Bruce Rauner’s call to make reforms to attract jobs back to Illinois. XX“For years, I have been pushing for reforms to Medicaid, unemployment insurance, and our Workers Compensation system. I am pleased to hear Governor Rauner highlight some of these problems that we can address to attract jobs back to Illinois,” said Rep. Hammond from Springfield on Wednesday.

Rep. Hammond also said she was, “encouraged that the Governor is fully invested in the governance of Illinois. For the first time in a long time, I feel we have a far more engaged Governor who is focused on fixing many of the problems facing Illinois.”

“I am really looking forward to hearing the Governor’s Budget Address later this month. It is my hope Governor Rauner encourages a far more transparent budgeting process than we’ve seen in the past few years, where 1,200 plus page budgets are proposed and passed in less than an hour’s time. There has been a lack of transparency in this process, and I hope that changes this year,” said Rep. Hammond.

Hammond encouraged residents of the 93rd district to contact her with questions or concerns on this or any other state issue. Hammond’s Macomb district office can be contacted at (309) 836-2707 and she can be reached via e-mail at rephammond@macomb.com.
