State Representative Norine Hammond announced Thursday that the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has awarded a $200,000 grant to Dallas City for boat ramp improvements.
“This grant will allow Dallas City to replace its existing narrow four-lane boat ramp with a new two-lane ramp and docks to better accommodate modern watercraft,” Rep. Hammond said. “The new ramp will extend farther into the Mississippi River and provide improved access for boaters.”
The IDNR has awarded four grants totaling $669,400 through the Illinois Boat Access Area Development Program to help local governments create boat and canoe areas on Illinois lakes and rivers.
The Program provides financial assistance to local government agencies for the acquisition, construction, expansion and rehabilitation of public boat and canoe access areas on Illinois lakes and rivers. Examples of eligible project activities include watercraft land acquisition for public access areas and construction or renovation of boat and canoe launching ramps, docks, restrooms, security lighting, parking areas, roads, waterways and other boating-related facilities.
