State Representative Norine Hammond (R-Macomb) and the Canton Police Department will host a Prescription Drug Drop Off event Saturday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place indoors at the Canton Police Department, located at Canton City Hall at 2 N. Main St.
“I encourage area residents to take advantage of this opportunity to safely remove old prescription drugs from their homes,” Rep. Hammond said. “By dropping off expired prescription drugs at this event, we can prevent these drugs from being used improperly and keep them out of the local water supply. I thank the Canton Police Department for partnering with me for this free event to benefit the community.”
Local residents are encouraged to safely dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs. Please place medications in a sealed plastic bag and drop them off inside at the drop box located in the main lobby of Canton City Hall.
Accepted medications that can be disposed of include tablets, capsules, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Also accepted are patches, vaping devices, and cartridges, as long as the lithium batteries are removed. Restricted items that will not be accepted are liquids, including intravenous solutions, syringes, and needles.
For further information, please call Rep. Hammond’s Macomb office at (309) 836-2707.
