Rep. Hammond sworn in to Illinois House

SPRINGFIELD – State Representative Norine Hammond (R-Macomb) today took the oath of office for her third full term in the Illinois House of Representatives.

“I am looking forward to what should be an interesting and challenging two years in the General Assembly,” Hammond said. “I am grateful to the people of western Illinois for honoring me with the opportunity to represent them in Springfield.”

All 118 House members were sworn in at noon today at Sangamon Auditorium at the University of Illinois at Springfield. The new 99thGeneral Assembly will serve until January 2017.

“We are facing some major issues in state government, starting with our critical budget situation,” Hammond said. “The next two years are going to require a lot of very hard choices. Legislators and the new Governor should be determined to work together to make good decisions for Illinois.”
